How To Sort By Cell Color In Excel

To sort cells by color in Excel, you can follow these steps:

Open the Excel worksheet that contains the data you want to sort.

  • Select the range of cells that you want to sort. You can do this by clicking and dragging your mouse cursor over the desired cells.
  • Click on the "Sort & Filter" button in the "Editing" group on the "Home" tab of the Excel ribbon. It looks like a funnel-shaped icon.
  • From the drop-down menu, select "Sort by Color" and then choose "Custom Sort" from the submenu.
  • In the "Sort" dialog box that appears, under "Sort by," select the column that contains the colored cells you want to sort.
  • Choose the color that you want to sort by from the drop-down menu under "On top." If the color you want is not listed, choose "More Colors" and select the desired color from the color palette.
  • Click the "OK" button to apply the sort.

Excel will rearrange the selected cells based on the color you specified, with cells matching the selected color appearing at the top of the sorted range.
